Yichun's Howling Puzzle

decided to show one really funny photograph taken during chinese new year. my aunty was like asking us to pose with mandarin oranges to take photographs and one of them ended up like this :



which coincidentally shows me holding the mandarin oranges in such a awkward position that it reminds me of something especially while studying sexual reproduction in man during biology lessons. yes, it looks so much like breasts i realised and it is rather funny.

anyway back to one of the sub-topic i intended to blog on today. it is about the magical "growing" tree, which my sister's friend bought for her from USA.

i read the packaging and thought that the "tree" can "grow" 600 times bigger! i exclaimed and thought that i should really give it a try. i was much more excited than my sister, because 600 times was like rather unbelievable.

unfortunately while i was telling my mother about it, my mother showed me something that dashed my excitement. the packaging reads "tree can grow up to 600%!" and NOT 600 times. nevertheless, i decided to try "planting" it by soaking it in a bowl of water for it to "grow".

i took some photographs at the start so as to make a comparision.

at the beginning the "tree" looks like this:



it was only about 2 cm big and only occupies a pathetic space in my kellogg's cereal bowl. i think it is actually a ultra condensed sponge. it felt spongy and powdery, but i am not too sure what the powdery substance was (haha, i feel that the way i am describing it now is like doing QA in chemistry practicals).

after three days, the "tree" has a really drastic change and it looks like this:



it is like 3/4 the size of my palm! it really "grew" tremondously. however, there are still powdery substance deposited on it. really curious about what that powdery substance was.

i mean isn't this amazing. if we can invent things that compress so much, then we won't need any bulky luggage when we go overseas or attend overnight camps.

maybe i should established one brand called "COMPRESSED" in the future. rather uncreative name, but nevertheless the products are all highly compressed and creative. :)

okay another one of my unrealistic thoughts.

school operated for only half a day today as part of the celebration to celebrate excellent o level results achieved by our seniors. unfortunately it rained in the morning, and i could not go and pick saga seeds near the school's back gate which i had planned to do so the day before.

after school went to watch a movie with weixing, weekiat, huixin, aiwen and nina. angie went with us but left after lunch at KFC.

we went to tiong bahru plaza to watch the movie. and the movie is called "HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE".



initially i was rather reluctant to watch but later felt that there was no harm trying to watch an ANIME for the first time. i am an ANIME idiot and only got introduced to that word from aaron, who is a narutard (anyway i thought that the pronounciation of that word is "ENERMIE" but later realised that it is actually "AN-NI-MAY" while reading an article in LIFE newspaper on japanese animation).

basically the movie is about a boy called HOWL and a MOVING CASTLE.

that's it. because i don't really understand the whole movie at all.

initially when the film begun i thought that i would be able to understand because the movie is based on a novel written by diana wynne jones. i read one of her books before, and all of them were about wizards and witches.

and the movie is about wizards and witches, as expected.

however, half-way through the movie i was racking my brains trying to understand what the movie is trying to convey.

i looked around and saw;
huixin chewing some gummys (most probably fruit plus, the 7-cents cheepo sweet that weekiat always give us =P) and seems to understand and enjoy the movie;
nina eating KFC and watching the movie intently;
aiwen, weixing and weekiat watching with their eyes glued to the screen;

i watched the movie with my eyes glued to the screen also but my brain was as confused as spilled super glue.

in the end, i fell asleep for 15 minutes before opening my eyes again to attempt to solve the puzzle, with some help from aiwen who was sitting beside me (sorry aiwen for asking you so many questions during the movie).

however, i STILL don't understand. and amazingly enough weekiat knew that i won't understand and i really don't.

no wonder my comprehension skills are so lousy. i need to read articles like slowly, almost word-by-word, before i can actually fully comprehend what that particular article is talking about.

so after watching the movie, i realised i had spent $6.50 to transform the movie HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE into YICHUN'S MOVING PUZZLE.

went to popular and saw the book of the same title by diana wynne jones being displayed on the shelf, but didn't want to spend another $8 to buy the book just to understand the movie. so, i went to lot 1 library and tried to find the book but to no avail.

i guessed the movie will remain as YICHUN'S MOVING PUZZLE for me, unless someone can give me a summary of its plot.

nevertheless, the soundtrack of the movie is very nice.

BUT as for the content...i am really not too sure.
